Both Verizon and Apple were expecting sales of the iPhone 4 on Verizon Wireless to be high, and whilst the initial numbers seemed promising, with the iPhone 4 breaking Verizon’s previous first day sales records, it seems that the Verizon iPhone 4 hasn’t been as popular since that.
The guys over at the BGR have obtained some sales figures from five different Apple stores, two of which are prominent stores, and the figures make interesting reading.

- Thursday: Verizon = 909, AT&T = 539
- Friday: Verizon = 916, AT&T = 680
- Saturday: Verizon = 660, AT&T = 471
- Sunday: Verizon = 796, AT&T = 701
- Monday: Verizon = 711, AT&T = 618
As you can see the Verizon iPhone 4 sales are not that much higher than the AT&T sales, and according to the information received by the BGR out of the people who purchased the iPhone 4 on Verizon, 30 percent were Android users, 25 percent were BlackBerry users and just 14 percent were switching from AT&T.

We have been hearing rumors about Google’s Music service for quite some time, a new music service which is designed to take on Apple’s iTunes, and now it looks like it will launch with Android 3.0 Honeycomb.
Motorola’s CEO Sanjay Jha may have let slip in a recent interview at MWC 2011, that the new Google Music service will be available at the same time as Android 3.0 Honeycomb launches.

“If you look at Google Mobile services [via Android] today, there’s a video service, there’s a music service – that is, there will be a music service.”
So it looks like Google has its new Google Music service ready to go, Motorola have obviously tried it out, and it looks like it will be available at the same time as Honeycomb launches.
We suspect that the new Google Music will also be available to other Android devices which aren’t running Honeycomb like the large range of Android smartphones.
As soon as we get some official announcement from Google on when their new Google Music service will launch we will let you guys know.

Google’s Social Search Gets Updated

Intel’s CEO Paul Otellini has said that the company is looking for a new partner for the MeeGo mobile operating system after Nokia’s recent announcement that Microsofts Windows Phone 7 will be its primary smartphone platform.
Otellini recently said that the reason Nokia had chosen Windows Phone 7 was because of the money Microsoft were offering them, and it would now be hard to differentiate between Windows Phone 7 and MeeGo on Nokia devices, so they will be looking for a new partner.

“We will find another partner. The carriers still want a third ecosystem and the carriers want an open ecosystem, and that’s the thing that drives our motivation,” he said.
Nokia announced that they would only be releasing one MeeGo device in 2011, which is probably something that Intel weren’t very impressed with.
MeeGo was created when both Nokia and Intel merged their two Linux based operating systems Maemo and Moblin, and Intel were obviously hoping that the new platform would turn into a major one for smartphones.

The latest revolution in pedestrian mobility is upon us. Like all the other single-person transports that have aspired to turn sidewalks into mini highways, we’re not sure if the Solowheel really is a revolution or destined for smashing success. It does look like heaps of fun though.

Unlike other unicycles featured here at Geeky Gadgets, Solowheel has no seat, so you’re standing upright while guiding the Li-ion battery powered vehicle. Capable of reaching 12 mph, the Solowheel is ideal for those in-between trips from the metro to your office and other short distances you think aren’t worth the walk.
Here’s a good chunk of text from the official site:
“Externally, the Solowheel consists of a wheel and two foldable foot platforms. Internally, the inner workings of the Solowheel use gyro sensors, a 1000-Watt motor and a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery. All this technology is housed under a visually appealing, slim case with leg pads and a handle for easy carrying.
100% battery operated; leaning controls your speed. Lean forward to go forward and backward when you want to slow down. The highly efficient lithium ion battery recaptures energy when going downhill or slowing down. It has a two hour battery life and can be fully recharged in only forty-five minutes.”
The Solowheel will hit stores this April and the $1,495 package will include an instructional DVD and charger.
